Goway Announces Luxury Journey of a Lifetime from Cape to Cairo

September, 2019

Goway is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in style with the formation of a Journey of a Lifetime from the Cape to Cairo. This exclusive, luxury vacation takes a maximum of 14 travellers on a 30-day journey across the whole of Africa. It’s the perfect option for luxury clients who want to see the wonders of this glorious continent in one convenient itinerary.

The Cape to Cairo takes travellers to nine countries and features many of the world’s greatest natural wonders. It also features the best luxury accommodations such as the Silo Hotel in Cape Town, Cottar’s 1920 Camp in the Masai Mara, and the Mena House in Cairo. Perhaps most appealing is the inclusion of a 15-day journey aboard the Pride of Africa, considered one of the most luxurious trains in the world.

The Cape to Cairo Journey of a Lifetime begins in Cape Town, where travellers board the Pride of Africa and begin their travels through South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Tanzania. Along the way, travellers spend a couple nights in the Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa, visit the mighty torrents of Victoria Falls, and head on safari in the iconic Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania, Africa’s largest game reserve. Travellers disembark from the train in Dar es Salaam and fly to Kenya where they connect to Masai Mara Game Reserve, home to the Great Migration, the greatest natural show on earth. After exploring the Great Rift Valley and meeting the Masai Warriors, travellers head into the cloud-forests of Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda to go on a mountain gorilla trek and come face-to-face with our noble cousins. The Cape to Cairo then ventures into Ethiopia to see the 12th-century rock-hewn churches of Lalibela before flying to Cairo, the Mother of the World, where travellers will cap off their journey with an exploration of the pyramids and other wonders of Ancient Egypt.

By journey’s end, travellers will have seen lions, elephants, and giraffes in some of Africa’s greatest game reserves, marvelled at some of humankind’s most startling achievements such as the pyramids, and witnessed the diverse wonders of the African continent. This journey departs in September 2020 and reprises the inaugural Cape to Cairo journey which was tour lead by Bruce Hodge, founder and president of Goway, in 2016.
