Maestro, from the Italian, means “master,” “teacher,” or “specialist,” and Goway is full of them! To help you get to know the personality and expertise of our destination specialists, we’ve put together introductions on each member of our team. Today, get to know Paola Silva!

Where were you born?

I was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador.

Where in Central & South America have you travelled?

I’ve been to Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador (where I lived for two years), Guatemala, and Nicaragua (I lived there for one year).

How long have you worked at Goway?

Four years. I was Central & South America’s operations lead before moving into sales.

Green Sea Turtle, Galapagos

What’s your favourite destination in Central & South America and why?

Ecuador (I’m biased, I know). It’s my favourite not only because I am Ecuadorian, but it is a small country full of contrasts, or, as I like to say, a country that offers four worlds to explore: the Pacific Coast with beautiful beaches, the Amazon Rainforest, the highlands of the Andes, and the Galapagos Islands. It offers a little bit of everything for everyone: adventure, nature, wildlife, relaxation, and history.

What’s the most-requested destination by your clients?

Peru, Costa Rica and the Galapagos.

What’s your favourite Latin Food?

I like everything, but Mexican food is my favorite.

Monteverde Cloud Forest canopy walk, Costa Rica

What are your tips for selling Central & South America or the Polar Regions or a particular country?

If you are looking for Costa Rica during the peak season (December to March), it can be expensive and also difficult to find availability. Book early and prepare your clients for a possible increase in costs. I suggest going to Ecuador instead, as it has fewer crowds, but similar activities. Ecuador also offers cloud forests, rainforests, waterfalls, adventure, and beaches. The Galapagos is a year-round destination and prices range from budget to luxury cruising as well as many land-based options. For fewer crowds and better prices, visit it during the low season from September to December. (But I’m not biased.)

Peru and Machu Picchu are also popular and affordable. But don’t forget Chile, Argentina, and Brazil. There are so many places to sell and travel to!

Ask about Goway’s three-way conference calls with your dedicated destination specialist. Have your expert on the line with you and your client to assist with those detailed questions. In fact, when this service is used Goway closes the sale 90% of the time. It’s like having your own personal Goway “wingman” to help close the deal!
