Canadian Globetrotters looking to Costa Rica for their dream post-Covid escape will be pleased to know the Central American nation plans to re-open to globetrotters from Europe, the UK, and Canada from August 1, 2020.
There are of course some requirements in place to ensure the safety of both locals and visitors to this popular Central American destination.
A negative test for Covid-19 must have been taken 48 hours prior to arrival into Costa Rica. On arrival, visitors will be required to have their temperature taken, show that they have a face mask, and complete a digital epidemiological form. Visitors are also required to have and may be asked to present proof of travel insurance that will cover the cost of accommodation should they be required to quarantine/self-isolate in Costa Rica. Local authorities warn that those who do not wish to follow these requirements will not be granted access to Costa Rica. These requirements are subject to change based on local and international conditions.
Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose, the largest international gateway to Costa Rica, has also introduced a variety of health and safety protocols to help protect staff and passengers from the moment they land.
At this time, American Globetrotters are unfortunately not permitted entry into Costa Rica.
The new normal will see many countries enforcing health and safety protocols to once again welcome the world back to their shores. Goway supports these steps toward reopening our world, and ensuring travel remains safe for our globetrotters and the local communities that welcome them.
