Photo Journal: Scenes of Ecuador

Here are a few photo’s from a recent trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands.  The mainland of Ecuador is definitely worth several days or a week exploring Quito and the surrounding villages like Otavalo.

Otavalo Market
Otavalo Market – One of South America’s best open air markets. The mark of a ‘real’ market in my opinion is seeing the local farmers setting up shop to sell their produce and livestock!
Red crabs in the Galapagos
Red crabs in the Galapagos – Everyone loves the penguins, sea-lions and birds, but I fell in love with these beautiful crabs!
Red footed booby and baby, Galapagos

The city of Quito
The city of Quito – Here the old colonial government buildings sit atop Incan foundations.
On the way to Mindo Cloud Forest
On the way to Mindo Cloud Forest – Stunning!
Ziplining in the Mindo Cloud Forest
Zip-lining in the Mindo Cloud Forest – Anyone can do it, and it’s a fun way to explore the different ‘levels’ of the canopy of the cloud forest.
