Eat Your Way Through a Peru Vacation
It’s not a secret anymore, Peru’s cuisine is a winner… a BIG winner! Peru has been chosen as the World’s Leading Culinary Destination for 2012, 2013, 2014, and once again, 2015, by World Travel Awards (WTA), regarded the “Oscars of Tourism”. This should really be no surprise to those who have experienced a Peru vacation.
Lima, the capital of Peru, hosts the largest gastronomy fair in South America called Mistura. Last September, this iconic event attracted half a million visitors! Mistura means “mixture”, and the 10-day festival welcomes cooks, bakers, street food vendors, sweets vendors, restaurants, culinary institutes, patrons, and the many who simply want to sample some of the best food in the world.

In celebration of yet another WTA Award win for Peru, and with Mistura coming up next month (September 2-11), Goway has introduced a spectacular one day “sampler” of the Mistura experience for your Peru vacation. Our Mistura Culinary Experience includes return transfers from the hotel, entrance to the event, $20US voucher for food purchases, guided tour, and explanation of all the foods on display, and a commemorative pin.
Peru has so much to offer in addition to the famous Andes mountains and ruins of Machu Picchu, so we can’t blame travellers for wanting to take in more of this beautiful country than just its food. So for those with limited time in Lima, we recommend Huaca Pucllano Restaurant. Feel like a part of history at this beautiful restaurant, which faces the ruins of a 1,500-year-old pyramid. Rough-hewn columns hold up the dining room’s soaring ceiling, but the best tables are outside, with a view of Huaca Pucllano, which is spectacularly lit at night.

On arrival, your guide will take you on a private tour of the ruins. Then, make your way to the restaurant’s outdoor terrace and the exclusive candlelit tables for a sumptuous feast of Peruvian delights. The Novo Andino cuisine served here improves on old recipes, such as Pastel de Choclo (a corn and beef casserole) and Chupe de Corvina (a creamy sea bass soup). Pucclano Restaurant is one of the few places you can try Paiche, an Amazon fish whose meat resembles swordfish, while the Cabrito al Horno (roasted kid) is simply a work of art.
These are one of many unique experiences that Goway offers as part of its Peru vacation travel ideas.

Speaking of tasty Peruvian food, check out this great rotisserie chicken recipe which has become hugely popular:
Known as Super Chicken, Pollo a la Brasa, or Peruvian Chicken, this is a tasty way to make a bird with enough flavour to satisfy anyone, but mild enough for everyone.
