Destination Specialists Share Their Favourite Romantic Destinations

Home / Asia / Destination Specialists Share …

Here at Goway Travel, we’ve reached out to a few of our destination specialists across departments and asked them to share what they think are the best destinations for romantic getaways. If you see some of your favourite romantic destinations on our list or want to share your own thoughts about where you’re hoping to travel when this pause in travel is all over, let us know in the comments.

What are your top destinations for a romantic getaway?

French Polynesia

It’s so much more than your overwater bungalow. Moorea is my favourite as it reminds me of a mix between Lost and Jurassic Park. There’s a great mountain backdrop with excursions into the plantations and to vanilla farms with stunning turquoise blue waters. Did you know that three words —“tiki,” “taboo,” and “tattoo”—found in the English language are Tahitian?

Sam Cottar, Business Development Manager for Eastern Canada

French Polynesia is just incredibly beautiful and relaxing and it does cater to couples.

Janette Purdham, Downunder Destination Specialist

Vahine Island, French Polynesia—it feels like the end of the earth to get here, but it’s well worth it. There are no pools and no roads, but a beautiful ocean and stars. It’s so romantic. The few bures they have are totally private and either overwater or right on the shore. There’s first class dining and it’s so special. You can smell the flowers the moment you arrive.

— Vanessa Lloyd, Downunder Destination Specialist

For sheer beauty, you simply can’t beat Tahiti!

Meghan Boyd, Product Manager for Downunder

You can’t beat the overwater bungalow experience with your loved one.

Virginia Dameno, Central & South America Destination Specialist

Aitutaki, The Cook Islands

I have been spoiled to see many beautiful beaches and Aitutaki’s lagoon and laid back lifestyle is a hands down winner.

— Nadya Phelan, Training Manager

Paris, France

Ready the cliché siren… it’s Paris! I’m actually not much of a romantic, but I am a culture vulture, and the Parisian cultural appetite is insatiable. Plus, we were there just before Christmas, so crowds were relatively light and the locals were more relaxed.

— Christian Baines, Content Editor

Paris or any of the islands in the South Pacific.

Paola Silva, Product Manager for Central & South America

Italy

The Amalfi Coast and just all of Italy! I find this country so romantic. I have been three times and loved it more and more every time I went. The language, the people, the food, and the wine don’t even match anything I have seen, and combine that with the scenery and history you get along the way. The music is also so romantic and there are so many bucket list things to do and see in Italy.

— Nicole Haslam, Idyllic Islands Destination Specialist

Belize

It has the second largest barrier reef in the world, white sands, diving…and beer.

Don Forster, General Manager for Central & South America

Palawan, The Philippines

It has amazing blue water, beautiful people, and the best snorkeling I have ever done.

— Chris Dyce, Digital Marketing Manager

Globetrotting Editor - You might say that Aren was destined to become a Globetrotter after his family took him to Germany two times before he was four. If that wasn’t enough, a term spent in Sweden as a young teenager and a trek across Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand confirmed that destiny. An independent writer, director, and film critic, Aren has travelled across Asia, Europe, and South America. His favourite travel experience was visiting the major cities of Japan’s largest island, Honshu, but his love for food, drink, and film will take him anywhere that boasts great art and culture.
