Destination Specialists Share Their Favourite Destinations for Family Travel
Here at Goway Travel, we’ve queried a few of our destination specialists across departments and asked them to share what they think are the best destinations for family travel. If you see some of your favourite family travel highlights on our list or want to share your own thoughts about where you’re hoping to travel when this pause in travel is all over, let us know in the comments.
What are your top destinations for family travel?
Australia
I’m biased, but I’d recommend Australia. The logistics are relatively easy, and there are so many options to tailor your budget without compromising your family vacation. Just pick a state or states and go.
— Christian Baines, Content Editor
Australia is a great place for family vacations. There are so many things to see and do. Beaches, Outback, animals, culture, activities—it really does have it all.
— Janette Purdham, Downunder Destination Specialist
Costa Rica
Costa Rica has lots of activities suitable for everyone: waterfalls, animal sanctuaries, horseback riding, zip lining, snorkelling, kayaking, chocolate tours (who doesn’t like chocolate!), beaches, and plenty of animals (including monkeys and sloths).
— Paola Silva, Product Manager for Central & South America
Fiji
Specifically Octopus Resort, Yasawa Islands, Fiji. It’s remote, which is how I like to be when I travel. Either the ferry or seaplane will get you there. Your family can stay in a bure with bedrooms. They have a fantastic kids club that focuses on cultural activities. Learn to scuba, go snorkelling, and there are sports for the teens. It’s paradise.
— Vanessa Lloyd, Downunder Destination Specialist
Without a doubt it’s Fiji. I don’t think there is anywhere else in the world as welcoming. Fijians love children and it is just so safe. The adults can relax knowing their kids are in good hands and the kids have a blast as well.
— Meghan Boyd, Product Manager for Downunder
A Beach Resort, Cruise, or Disney
Any Club Med full of sports and activities will do for my family.
— Virginia Dameno, Central & South America Destination Specialist
For me, I have only ever done a family vacation on a cruise, to an all-inclusive resort, or to Disney. So I’d recommend any of the three, since I’ve enjoyed every one with my family. The ocean would probably be my first pick. It’s nice and relaxing for families.
— Nicole Haslam, Idyllic Islands Destination Specialist
Munich
There are so many amazing restaurants, great places to socialize, and a perfect blend of nature, culture, history, and food.
— Chris Dyce, Digital Marketing Manager
Anywhere!
I have to say: anywhere. Really. It depends on personal comfort and your children. I personally am fortunate my husband and I both had our kids on flights before they were three months old. We changed the way we travel and the speed at which we do things, but it has never slowed us down. We explored Croatia with them and we fed them gelato on every private walking tour we could do. Our trips are modified but have still been amazing for them and for us.
– Nadya Phelan, Training Manager
Anywhere. We have travelled as a family to Australia, Cuba, Peru, the Galapagos, Patagonia, and almost Antarctica. Getting kids to see the world in any form should be a priority so I’ll back any destination if your kids are with you.
— Don Forster, General Manager for Central & South America
