Destination Specialists Share Their Favourite Countries for Nature Travel
Here at Goway Travel, we’ve queried a few of our destination specialists across departments and asked them to share what they think are the best destinations for nature travel. If you see some of your favourite natural highlights on our list or want to share your own thoughts about where you’re hoping to travel to when this is all over, let us know in the comments.
What are your top destinations for nature travel?
The Great Barrier Reef
As a scuba diver for years, being able to experience the Great Barrier Reef was fantastic. From sharks to whales to the vast array of marine life to the beautiful coral itself, there’s something profound about being able to share that space and see the largest living reef system in the world.

The Great Barrier Reef is just spectacular!
— Virginia Dameno, Central & South America Destination Specialist
As much as I love the ocean and the Great Barrier Reef should be at the top of my list, Petra in Jordan has to take it. There’s something magical about making that first walk into the valley; it makes you feel so small as you come upon the giant Treasury peeking out at you as you first walk out of the rocks to see it in all its beauty.
— Nadya Phelan, Training Manager
Brazil and Kenya
Rio de Janeiro might just have the most “natural” beauty of any city on the planet, and there’s nothing to match that first glimpse of Iguassu Falls. That’s before you get into the Amazon or Pantanal. Kenya would come a close second. That first safari will just transport you, but there’s also something to be said for seeing a giraffe casually hanging out on the side of the road.

Belize and Argentina
Belize for the diving. Still some of my best diving I have ever done included the famous Blue Hole. Argentina just has such a variation of amazing natural landscapes: mountains, deserts, lakes, salt plains, and grasslands.
— Janette Purdham, Downunder Destination Specialist
The Galapagos Islands
This is such a unique and remote location where you can disconnect from everything else and just enjoy nature and close encounters with wildlife.
— Paola Silva, Product Manager for Central & South America
I love Salzburg with its beautiful scenic lakes and small towns outside the city that don’t ruin the natural topography.
— Chris Dyce, Digital Marketing Manager
The ocean in general is an easy answer; I love to think about how it has been pounding against the shore for eternity. My wife and I spent four hours sitting on a cliff on Easter Island just watching monstrous waves hit against the cliffs.
— Don Forster, General Manager for Central & South America
The most beautiful natural beauty I have ever seen is in my home country of Canada. I lived in Vancouver for five years and spent every spare second I could exploring Mother Nature, mountains, and hidden gems. I could go on and on about British Columbia because it is probably the most beautiful place I have explored and I love that it’s in my home country.
