Africa’s Got The Write Stuff

Calling all aspiring travel writers!

Join a travel-writing workshop and safari in South Africa with Joe Yogerst

From Mark Twain and Ernest Hemingway to Karen Blixen and Paul Theroux, Africa has inspired many a great scribe. I should know, because Africa is the first place that I first put pen to paper (and fingers to keyboard) to write about my own encounters with people, places and wildlife.

Three decades later I’m still at it — writing about Africa (and the rest of the world) for the likes of CNN Travel, Travel + Leisure and National Geographic Books. I’ve packed all of those years of literary and journalistic know-how into a writing safari for Goway Travel which debuts in South Africa next May (2015).

The Write Stuff: Cape Highlights with Joe Yogerst spans 11 days and some of the most gorgeous scenery on the continent, a rambling journey from Cape Town and the fabled Cape of Good Hope along the Garden Route and through the primeval Tsitsikamma Forest to Kariega Game Reserve.

Along the way I’ll be leading workshops on various aspects of travel writing: how to compose everything from magazine and newspaper features stories to online reviews and blog posts; how to interview people and what writing tools work best in the field; how to add value to your writing via photography and video.

During our daily talks and workshops, we’ll also discuss the nuts & bolts of modern publishing, including tips on where and how to get your African stories published.

With number strictly limited, the safari is expected to sell out quickly. Learn more about the trip by clicking onto The Write Stuff: Cape Highlights with Joe Yogerst.
