2. Renew your vows at the gateway to Machu Picchu
Experience a traditional Shaman ceremony at the Orient Express Sanctuary Lodge just steps away from the mystical and magical Machu Picchu, Peru. Machu Picchu is literally on everyone’s bucket-list, but instead of rushing up and down like most tourists, step away from the crowds and have a personal and physical connection with the people around the lost city of the Incas. Here’s a travel idea from Cusco on the train to Machu Picchu, but there are of course many ways to get to the lost city of the Inca!

5. A candle-lit dinner on the fortress walls of colonial Cartagena
Seen in Hollywoods ‘Love in the Time of Cholera’, and ‘Romancing the Stone’, Cartagena, Colombia is one of the finest, walled colonial cities in the world, rivaling Havana and Cusco. Imagine dancing through cobble-stoned plazas as live music and Caribbean rhythms suddenly convince you why the pirates of days of old had every reason to constantly try to capture this incredibly beautiful city. Here’s our Cartagena city stopover idea for travel ideas. Colombia has a lot to offer, from the Coffee region, mountainous Bogota, the Trek to the lost city, and Santa Marta.

6. Dine on the edge of a Volcano
After visiting the Amazon, the Galapagos or the Ecuadorian cloud forest (or all three!), round off your next trip to Ecuador with an unforgettable dinner on the side of a Volcano, overlooking Quito at the Rumiloma Restaurant. FYI: Quito enjoys eternal spring weather.

7. Squeeze in Iguassu Falls between Tango and Samba in Latin America’s Sexiest Cities:
Buenos Aires and Rio de Janiero are best stirred together. Connect from Brazil into Argentina at the epic waterfalls of Iguassu, the largest in the World, where the two countries share a border. Fusing lush rain-forest and wildlife encounters with the European elegance of Buenos Aires, and the seductive charm of risqué Rio….the hardest thing is packing: Bathing suits, Hiking gear and nicer-clothes to dress up in!

We have a route taking in both cities of Rio and Buenos Aires plus, with Iguassu falls , which we call Clasico Latino, see here for Argentina first, or Brazil first.
