Self-Drive – A great way to see Malaysia

With trends towards independent travel on the increase, according to a recent survey* carried out by Independent Traveller’s World (ITW), 44% of those surveyed purporting they prefer FIT over group departures. Self-drive programs are a perfect answer. Self-drive holidays are for those who want the flexibility of seeing a country on their own time schedule.

Goway has been offering self-drives quite successfully throughout Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa for some time. So why not Asia? For a self-drive program to be attractive, it has to make sense. Is it easy to navigate the country using road signs in English? Are the roads in good condition? Is it relatively safe to drive in that country? Do locals follow common traffic laws or do they create their own? One may want to reconsider purchasing a self-drive holiday in India, as an example, where car horns or more widely used than signal lights, but in destinations like Malaysia, self-drives are a safe and easy way to navigate the country.
