Live Like Local in the Cook Islands

Lagoon Breeze Garden Studio with a Pool View

A Goway original concept, Live like a Local gives Globetrotters the opportunity to immerse themselves in their destination’s culture and interact with the locals, all while enjoying time to relax, unwind, decompress, and recharge.

Head to the one of the best kept secrets in the South Pacific, the Cook Islands and live amongst the friendly inhabitants. Spend your days in the beautiful lagoon or explore the mainland and adapt to the leisurely island lifestyle. Within just minutes of arriving at the airport, you will be enjoying the white sand, palm-fringed beaches and coral lagoons of this beautiful South Pacific paradise.

Starting at just USD$2,139 or CAD$2,739 per person, Goway’s Live Like a Local in the Cook Islands incl. Airfare program includes 12 nights in self-catering style accommodations (with kitchens or kitchenettes), roundtrip transfers, daily breakfast, and three interactive islands day excursions, giving you the opportunity to mingle with the locals while also having time relax and take in all the natural beauty of the Cook Islands, along with bonus amenities based on the resort of your choice.

Experiences a nature walk across the island, taking a leisurely trek across the rugged interior, learning about the flora and fauna of the Cook Islands and how it influences the local culture. Your explorations continue at the Highland Paradise Cultural Centre, where you will learn to cook with an umu (underground oven), plus how to weave a drum and dance. You’ll also visit pre-history worshipping places, chief’s houses, and ancient sacrificial sites. Your Cook Islands Live like a Local experience also includes a progressive 3-course dinner hosted at three different homes around the island where you are treated to a delicious meal showcasing authentic Cook Islanders hospitality.

We highly recommend you attend a local church service (even if you’re not religious – it’s a great look at Cook Islands local life), as well take some time to check out the local markets where you can find local handcrafted souvenirs, authentic pearls and tasty food. If nightlife interests you, the Cook Islands offers that as well, from Traders Jacks where you can grab a bite to eat and some cocktails, to dancing in Rehab, an open air nightclub.

When your stay is over, it’s the locals you will remember most. Mingling and interacting with them is a highlight for most Globetrotters, but to actually live amongst them, even for just a short time, is truly an experience of a lifetime.
