Goway Islands Product Manager Talks about his recent cruise in Fiji with Captain Cook Cruises

Recently returning from a trip to Fiji, I had the opportunity to join Captain Cook Cruise on their 4-day Mamanuca & Southern Yasawa Cruise. Here, I will share with you some of my experiences, tips and reasons why you should recommend a cruise in Fiji to your clients.

Known as the heart of the South Pacific, Fiji is one of the most beautiful island destinations in the world. Made up of 333 captivating islands, Fiji is famous for its soft coral, white sand beaches, turquoise waters and pristine natural environment with over 100 uninhabited islands, all waiting to be explored.

There are plenty of ways to explore the islands of Fiji, but cruising allows you to see a lot in a short period. If you’re looking for an authentic Fiji experience, Captain Cook Cruises might be the right fit for you.

Captain Cook Cruises

Captain Cook offers a variety of cruise itineraries, including a day cruise to Tivua Island, and three, four, seven, or eleven-night voyages. Captain Cook Cruises are all family-friendly and offer tailored packages to suit both young and old. Captain Cook was voted “Best Cruise Line” by the Fiji Visitors Bureau, and “Best Fiji Experience” by the Fiji Tourism Awards. With four vessels departing weekly throughout Fiji, they cover a wide variety of itineraries, from the renowned Yawasa Islands to the quieter islands of northern Fiji.

Suggested Captain Cook Cruise Itineraries:

4-Day Captain Cook: Southern Yasawa Island Cruise
5-Day Captain Cook: Northern Yasawa Island Cruise
8-Day Captain Cook: Yasawa Island Cruise

Cruise package includes:

• Accommodation on board the MV Reef Endeavour
• All meals
• Activities as per the itinerary: daily island stopovers, water activities, guided village & school tours, snorkelling & glass bottom boat trips to reefs, use of snorkelling equipment & mini gym, island lovo feast & kava ceremony, and nightly entertainment
• 24-hour self-service tea & coffee bar
• Transfer at the end of your cruise to Nadi airport or a hotel in Port Denarau

Highlights:

Learning to dive was probably one of the biggest highlights of my most recent trip to Fiji. While I didn’t have time to get certified on this shorter itinerary I was able to take part in Captain Cook’s discover scuba diving program which includes the theory, a pool dive, and a 12-meter dive, and starts the process of getting certified. Additionally, we had some fantastic snorkelling experiences through the Mamanuca and Southern Yasawa Islands, including stops at Monuriki Island where the movie Cast Away with Tom Hanks was filmed. We also visited the Scared Islands, finishing at the Southern tip of the Yasawas at Waya Island. Here, we had the opportunity to visit a local village, including attending a local school where we took in a Make (traditional style of song and dance) performance by the students and visited their shell market.

Tips:

The best possible advice I can offer is to use a Goway islands expert to help you create the perfect package for your clients. They know what’s going on at the destination. They can offer the best deals available and give suggestions on pre and post-cruise options.
I would also say book early to take advantage of the best possible deals and to secure space. Long-haul destinations like Fiji typically only go up in price the closer you get to departure. In addition, many of the best properties in this destination are small or boutique and have limited space.
