Explore the Aussie Outback by Rail

The Indian Pacific crosses the Outback

Goway Travel, the leaders in travel Downunder, have announced two new rail specials for travel on Australia’s most iconic train journeys, The Ghan and the Indian Pacific.

Explore the Outback is a 7-day vacation idea starting in Adelaide. Passengers enjoy a 3-night stay in Adelaide before embarking on the Ghan for a journey through the Australian Outback. They enjoy the comforts of all-inclusive Gold Service accommodation with all meals on board featuring modern Australian cuisine served in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant, plus off-train experiences. Beverages are also included and are available in the Outback Explorer Lounge. Gold Service Twin Cabins feature a three seater sofa during the day converting to upper and lower berths at night with compact en-suite facilities. On arrival in Alice Springs, passengers enjoy some free time before heading to Uluru – a highlight for many. A special evening is spent at the Field of Light, an art installation of 50,000 lights in the desert overlooking Ayers Rock. A sunrise tour completes the experience, taking in the spectacular morning light as it spills over the Rock. Pricing starts at $1319USD/$1779CAD per person, twin share for travel December ’17 to February ’18.

Enjoy an Off Train Excursion on The Ghan

The legendary Ghan train was named after the hardy Afghans and their camel trains which provided the only means of transport into “The Red Centre” in the early days. The journey now takes passengers from Adelaide to Alice Springs to Darwin and v.v. Other great rail ideas include the Classic Aussie Rail Spectacular which features both The Ghan and Indian Pacific trains. The Indian Pacific is Australia’s longest train journey and aptly named after the two oceans it links – the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Travel is in all-inclusive Gold Service with regionally inspired meals served in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant or chat with the locals in the Outback Explorer Lounge over a fine glass of Australian wine.

Dining in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant

A range of off-train experiences are included with your Gold Service fare allowing you to really immerse yourself in this vast country, ranging from famous wine regions, outback star gazing or sunsets, tremendous gorge experiences and quirky mining towns.
