TRAVEL IDEAS FOR WESTERN AUSTRALIA
As one of the largest and most diverse states in the world, Western Australia is never short of unique and extraordinary vacation ideas! Here, you can experience Australia’s sunniest capital city, whitest beaches, largest expanse of outback, one of the oldest known living cultures on earth, UNESCO World Heritage reef and rock formations, wildlife, world-class surf, and premium wines…. and still have plenty of reasons to return.
Here are some of our favourite Western Australia travel ideas:
SELF DRIVE IDEA
Drive an Outback Trail
Venture into timeless outback landscapes of rugged red gorges, gold rush ghost towns, vast cattle stations, and one of the last true wilderness areas on earth, The Kimberley. Follow the Golden Quest Discovery Trail to Kalgoorlie. Take a coastal meander along the Indian Ocean Drive. Or tackle some of Australia’s most unique outback four wheel drive adventures, including the epic Gibb River Road.

Visit Rottnest Island
On a day trip or mini break to Perth’s island playground, you’ll get to choose from 63 beautiful beaches, 20 stunning bays, world-class surf, plus sheltered swimming and snorkelling spots. Marine life encounters are plentiful too, including New Zealand fur seals, whales, and more than 350 species of fish. Unique to Rottnest, you’ll also find a quokka – deemed “The World’s Happiest Animal”. They are a super cute nocturnal marsupial, about the size of a house cat.

NATURAL WONDER IDEA
Discover the Unique Pinnacles
Rising from the yellow sands of the Pinnacles Desert, in Nambung National Park, thousands of limestone spires create one of Australia’s most unique landscapes close to Perth. MARINE LIFE IDEA
The world’s largest fringing reef, just steps from the shore, UNESCO World Heritage listed Ningaloo offers some of the most accessible Australian marine life encounters, including graceful manta rays, turtles, and some 500 species of fish. It’s also one of the few and best places on earth to swim with the world’s largest fish, the gentle whale shark. Snorkel, dive, or take a glass-bottom boat tour of Ningaloo Reef.

Shark Bay World Heritage Area
