Touring with a small group has many travel advantages. Group travel allows you to get to do and see things you normally would find difficult to arrange on your own. Plus, many activities, such as those arranged in Goway’s Holiday of a Lifetime series, may not have even been on the radar, even for the most knowledge-seeking traveller. Here are few examples of inclusions found on our Holidays of a Lifetime tours, which are not only difficult to personally arrange, but are also thoroughly enjoyable.
Enjoy special activities on our Waltzing Matilda group tour to Australia and New Zealand, (a combo of our Best of Australia and Best of New Zealand tours). In Australia, you make a visit to Phillip Island to view the parade of the penguins. Yes, it’s open to everyone but from the nearest big city, Melbourne, there is no public transportation. Every morning, the colony of penguins here come down from their burrows and head into the sea, not to appear again until the evening. You can observe them emerging from the sea returning to their burrows, one, then two, then more and more until you have hundreds of penguins heading home.
In Rotorua, New Zealand, Goway can arrange for you to stay at a genuine working family farm where you will be hospitably looked after and supplied with some wholesome home cooking. It’s a great benefit of the group travel experience!
While in Beijing on our Splendours of China & Tibet group tour, a pre-arranged session with a master of Tai Chi is a special event. You learn how to practice the ancient art of Tai Chi at the Temple of Heaven. One of the highlights of this tour is a visit to Lhasa, Tibet. It is here that a visit to a school for visually-impaired children is included, called Braille Without Borders. Before the opening of this project, blind children in Tibet did not have access to education. In Suzhou, China’s “Venice of the East,” there is a fascinating session learning about Chinese calligraphy, another ancient art of which the Chinese are very proud.
The Splendours of India offers the opportunity in Agra, home of the Taj Mahal, to obtain an insight into one of Mother Teresa’s orphanages. This is a moving experience and gives an appreciation of what this wonderful lady has achieved.
Not only are some of the activities hard to arrange, but you will find there is an immense pleasure in getting to share these unforgettable experiences with others in your group. It’s truly a heartwarming advantage of group travel.
Goway’s 32-Day Cape to Cairo group tour is not something most people would undertake on their own. Travelling from South Africa to Egypt, a tour of this magnitude has to be very carefully planned and coordinated as it covers 8 different countries – each one with its own different highlights to be considered as inclusions. This journey of a lifetime offers luxury train travel, game safaris, gorilla treks, a cruise on the Nile and much, much more.
Goway’s Signature South America small group tour is a combination of two others – Cradle of the Incas and Samba, Tango and Waterfalls. Travellers visit Brazil, Argentina, and Peru. In Peru, especially, there are activities which Goway arranges for its groups specifically. One is in Lima, where a local family in the exclusive district of San Isidro invites our group to lunch. This particular family owns a private collection of art pieces ranging from pre-Inca ceramics and textiles to the most complete collection of Nativity scenes in the Americas, and a private viewing is arranged. The other activity is in Cusco, the heartland of the Inca civilization. At a local restaurant, an in-kitchen cooking demonstration offers not only a unique experience but also involves eating the prepared traditional Andes dishes.
So why not travel on a Holiday of a Lifetime group tour and not only make life easy for yourself, by letting our Tour Directors take care of everything, but also enjoy the group travel activities included, and hopefully make life-long friends along the way.
