See Turtles Lay Eggs in Borneo!

There aren’t many places in the world you can watch turtles come ashore to lay eggs, observe orangutans swinging through trees, and spot the unique-looking proboscis monkeys. Our Sandakan Wildlife Safari, in Borneo, gives us this incredible nature experience!

Borneo is the third largest island in the world and is divided as parts of three countries – Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei. On this 5 day itinerary, travellers will visit Selingan Island (Turtle Island) to see the incredible process of turtles laying eggs, which are then released into the sea. Turtle landings usually occur after dusk, and although this process happens year round, the best time to go is between July and October, when the sea is calmer.

Visitors then go to Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary in Sandakan. The sanctuary contains orangutans which have been orphaned and rescued. Travellers will also explore local villages and stay in a lodge along the Kinabatangan River, known for the greatest concentration of wildlife in Borneo, including the unique proboscis monkey.
